    <description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">This collection includes the ionospheric Total Electron Content (TEC) data and products generated since 2018 by the &quot;Upper atmosphere physics and radiopropagation&quot; INGV group and stored into the eSWua (electronic Space Weather upper atmosphere) database.
A dedicated computational center at the INGV headquarters processes the information acquired by the INGV-RING network (http://ring.gm.ingv.it), the EUREF permanent GNSS network (http://www.epncb.oma.be) and the IGS network (http://www.igs.org) and produces, 24/7, ionospheric TEC data for the Mediterranean and European areas and for the entire globe.
These information are real-time organized by the eSWua system, which makes available to the users several TEC data and products (nowcasting and forecasting TEC maps, latitudinal/longitudinal TEC distributions, etc.) in an open format.</description>
    <description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Methods">GNSS observables (code and phase) on, at least, 2 different frequencies (e.g. L1 and L2 for GPS) are acquired by different GNSS networks (INGV-RING network, EUREF, IGS). Different techniques, based on the geometry free linear combination of the GNSS observables, are applied in order to retrieve the Total Electron Content in the ionosphere/plasmasphere for each couple of satellite-receiver. These TEC values are then interpolated by applying different interpolation techniques or by ingesting data into an empirical model depending on the spatial scale and the resolution of the TEC map (global, regional or local). The eSWua DBMS collects these data into a relational database, making them available to the user in the JSON format. The information stored into the database are further exploited to generate real-time applications (alert, time-series visualization, etc) and products (maps, etc.) on user request.</description>
